Re: auction alert North Carolina
Hey congrates! That's great. What a wonderful win. =)
Just got into Kingman, AZ tonight and saw you'd won them. Cool!
(Picked up my 8 cell horns in LA today).
Keep us up to date on what you've got.
Re: auction alert North Carolina
Got a call from my transporter. Everything's in his truck, and he's heading back to Raleigh. Only damage he could see was something minor on one of the driver hookups. Came with all the gear to fly them too. Needless to say, I'm excited!...:Cross Fingers:

Got the speakers in Friday afternoon, and had to leave for a scout trip posthaste...
However, While evicting the lawn mower and stuffing everything in it's place, I did manage to grab a few pix. Note the 511/908 for comparison...

The only damage I could find is minor, although I haven't yet tried to fire up all the components. There is a little corner damage to one of the VIT's, but that's it. All the hanging/flying hardware came included, and it looks like all they did was cut the wires holding everything up.
Anyone ID the woofer? 515 - G of some type?
Any suggestions for stripping the white paint off these drivers and 816's?

Do the cabinets have a textured vinyl covering on them? Mine does..... and then latex wall paint. I figured I'd just go right over it with a layer of plywood..... like maybe 3/8ths.
What are your cabinets made of? The spec sheet may say plywood, but mine is actually an OSB like material.
As far as stripping paint off the VIT's I'd check out the various strippers used for boats and Corvettes.......both made of fiberglass. Actually, many strippers likely address fiberglass. I have one called SoyGel that is nice to use. It's "safe" on fiberglass although it says not to let it sit for prolonged periods. If it's just latex, I doubt you'd need to let it sit for too long anyway. I've never used it on fiberglass myself. The nice thing is that it's a soy based product and isn't as harmful as one of the old fashioned strippers, but it actually seems to work unlike some of the other "safer" strippers.

That's a damm good question. Looking at house plans right now. Friend of mine is pushing for a 12' basement ceiling. We'll see.
For what I paid for them, I figgered I could work that part out later...:p

That would be so awesome! If I ever build a house I want have enough height in the basement to have at least an 8 foot ceiling and still have adequate room above to access the utilities.

Yeah, that was kind of my thinking when I got my MR94B's.

I had this gut feeling they were gonna go for a song, just wanted someone here to get them if I couldn't.
Yeah, I think those are 515-G's. Sheeit, what you paid isn't even the cost of the empty 816's...darned good deal!
